CARERS   ASSOCIATION   SOUTH   AFRICA

As Age-in-Action’s aim is to improve the quality of life for older persons in South Africa, we are running a series of practical support and training programmes       as well as information sessions for carers of all ages who are caring for older persons.

 Who  are  the  Carers ?

  • The carers are people who care for those who are unable to manage due to disability, frailty or illness.

  • They can be a relative, friend or a neighbour – of any age.

What  is  the  Effect  of  Caring  on  the  Carer ?

While carers can experience great joy and satisfaction from being able to care for someone they love, sometimes:

  • They can feel isolated and alone.

  • Their quality of life can become affected by caring, i.e. caring for persons for up to 24 hours a day impacts on one’s health.

  • Carers can worry about the future of the person they care for, as well as their own.

What  Training   Programmes   does   Age-in-Action   Provide ?

  • Training for carers specifically designed to suit their needs.

  • Training in their local area, at a time best suited to carers.

  • Training which will give the carers the necessary skills to make caring in the home easier.
